Family & Maternity Mini Photo Sessions // Foscue park // Demopolis, AL
I have a heart to donate my time & skillsets from time to time to various missions, organizations, or families in need. I decided early in the year that I wanted to host a mini session in support of The Lighthouse Women's center around mother's day. The Lighthouse women's center has really taken hold of mine an my husbands heart since we first learned of it. We are monthly supporters of the organization as well and I would encourage anyone seeking an organization to support to look into the Lighthouse.
When I reached out to Tanya I mentioned that it would be little work on the Lighthouse's part, I more than anything wanted to make sure I had their blessing. She was supportive so I pushed ahead with my plans.
I opened the booking site about a month before the session was to take place, on April 26th. I had 16 slots opened, 15 mins each for $50. This is a great price for those seeking a quick family photo update. I only ended up booking 8 sessions, but it ended up being exactly as The Lord intended because I spent more time with many of the families and the images we got were absolutely precious.
About a week before the session, the weather was forecasting rain for the Saturday of the session. I prayed for The Lord's Will to be done in this session (rain / no rain - it was His session). As we got closer to the day, the forecast was now showing overcast. I had two locations in mind at Foscue and overcast vs sunny would play a big role in which location I chose. Thirty minutes before the first session, I drive over to Foscue and it LOOKs like the sun may come out. About 10 minutes to go, and the sun COMES OUT, showcasing all His Glory! I settled on a location that would really enhance the light through the leaves and Spanish moss, but yet not be too 'green-cast' on their face.
The sun STAYED too. It stayed through my last session and then about 15 minutes later was overcast again. I was in AWE. What a blessing. Also the images I got this day were stunning. My wish is that each and every family I took photos of that day felt loved on by me, truly enjoyed their session, and walked away with stunning new portraits of them or their family. Without further adieu, I will shut the heck up and present to you the images:
Maci + her son
That green dress just POPS, doesn't it?
Brieanna's Family
Brieanna's comment was that this was the perfect mother's day gift to her - images of her favorite two boys; my heart just about melted into a puddle on the ground.
Gha'Terricka + Her mom
I loved this outfit. The hat + the shawl allowed for so much creativity in posing. I could have spent an hour working with her and completely lost track of the time.
Latavia's Family
Wow, talk about two sweet, sweet children miss Latavia has. They were so excited to meet their new sibling.
Keionte's Family
Okay I said Latavia's kids were fantastic...well so were Keionte's. But it makes sense - they are all friends.
Elizabeth's Family
I know Elizabeth from daycare and she mentioned wanting to get a quick updated family photo for their new baby girl, and I said what better way than to come out to the Lighthouse session!
Stephanie's Family
The denim colors + the glowy back drop! Wow they really pop!
The Nichols Family
Harlie booked only a day out from the session and said she was panicking with what to wear the night before but shoot they did a good job. The greys and browns blended together so well. Plus I love a good cowboy hat. The little cowboy stole the show!
In result of the mini session, $400 was donated to the Lighthouse Women's Center. Please check out their website if you would like more information. The Lighthouse Website
